The town is famous for a type of soft nougat, known in Spanish as Turrón de Jijona. This is mostly due to the extensive almond farming that has existed since the Moorish farmers originally cultivated the almond trees following the Islamic conquest of the Iberian peninsula. Several factories produce turrón, which is all distributed for sale in December.
Places of interest to visit are the Castle of the Torre Grossa, and the Franciscan Convent of the Virgin of Orito.

Just used Beniconnect for the first time for an airport transfer from Alicante to Benidorm & RTN. Excellent service from the receptionist at the airport desk giving us details on where to find the minibus and for the RTN journey the driver arrived bank on time for our journey back to the airport. I have now used this Company on two separate occasions for journeys between Alicante Airport and Javea. On each occasion the service and in particular communications were excellent. Maybe I was lucky but I would certainly not hesitate to use them again.

I have used this service twice already and will definitely use again in the future. Will not hesitate to recommend. Drivers are very helpful and friendly, helped me with my luggage. I had to wait a bit on my arrival at the airport for other passengers from their flights but overall the travel (from arriving to the bus stop at the airport to the destination in Calpe) took just about 15 minutes longer than by taxi at a fraction of taxi price. On the way from Calpe to the airport it was about the same time as taxi. Oh, and wi-fi is available on board.
Booked ‘speedy shuttle’ for our return journey home by website and everything ran smoothly. The web site is simple and easy to navigate and includes every Benidorm hotel advising of pick up point in advance. The transfer cost 30€ for both of us and it was money well spent. Received an email the day before telling us where the pick up point was and what time. It said arrive 10mins before and as we arrived so did the mini bus, the driver was friendly and helpful and the bus spotless. We only stopped once and then had a hassle free journey to the airport. Can not recommend enough - I’ll always use 100% in the future. Thank you
